Every writer working in Hollywood has a story about how he or she broke into the business, but André Bormanis definitely has one of the more interesting ones. As a lifelong science fiction fan, he has been able to have a career utilizing both his love of science and his drive to write and create—working on some of the most popular science fiction shows on television for over twenty-five years. From all of the iterations of Star Trek from Next Generation to Enterprise to the popular new series The Orville, André has served in various combinations of science consultant, writer, and producer. He also worked on such shows as Threshold, Eleventh Hour, and the animated Tron: Uprising, as well as science-based shows, including the new version of Cosmos and Mars on the National Geographic Channel. In addition to that, he is a consultant for The Planetary Society and a member of the board of directors of both the Astronomical Society of the Pacific and the Griffith Observatory.
